Facebook Uses Video for Online PR Services

Facebook Live launched last week marking the beginning of social network sites tapping into the video PR sector.  Not only does this signal a new direction for social media and is yet another ePR services tool online PR professionals can call upon in today’s highly technical society.

The site intends to promote social networking as a means of PR with videos only from Facebook staff and not users, signalling a move away from user generated content into publisher, and it kicked off with a live interview with actress America Ferrera about her new film ‘The Dry Land’.

The interview revolved around how the film’s production team used social media channels to promote the film rather than other traditional methods, and it is this form of ‘Facebook promotion’ that will feature in the live video stream.

Also included in Facebook Live is ‘Ask a Question’ which enables users to pose questions and submit them to a moderator.  Users will be able to update their statuses with Live information and the ability to archive videos for a later date is available.
